The Forum at Jerash (modern Jordan)

Title

The Forum at Jerash (modern Jordan)

Description

Although built in the late Roman Empire, the Forum at Jerash (modern Jordan), like the city itself, lived a remarkably long life. Just down the street from the intersection seen here, to the north, a congregational mosque would be built in the early eighth century CE. The urban transformation is described by H. Dey, The Afterlife of the Roman City (New York: Cambridge University Press, 2015) 216–19.
